GEARS 5 Teaser and GEARS OF WAR Funko Pop Game Debut at E3 2018

GEARS 5 Teaser and GEARS OF WAR Funko Pop Game Debut at E3 2018

There are big plans ahead for the Gears of War franchise. At Microsoft’s E3 2018 event, three brand new titles were officially revealed, including the highly anticipated Gears 5. This time, Kait Diaz appears to be stepping into the lead as she confronts a lingering thread from Gears of War 4. In the closing minutes of the previous game, Kait’s received an amulet from her mother that resembled the symbol of the Locust Queen Myrrah. This implied that Kait might be part Locust herself, and the new Gears 5 announcement trailer sends her off on a quest to find answers.

Microsoft also released an extended cinematic trailer that features J.D. Fenix as he attempts to evacuate Kait and her friends. And once Kait reveals that she’s been experiencing visions, she immediately comes under suspicion by her friends and associates.

Perhaps the most bizarre news to come out of the event, however, was the announcement of Gears Pop!, a new mobile game that was inspired by Funko’s Gears of War Pop figures. Funko is working closely with the game’s developers, and there will be up to 16 different Pop figures and variants based upon the new game. There’s even a teaser trailer for Gears Pop!, which is oddly adorable.

The third title announced was Gear Tactics, a new Gears of War RTS game; which will be available exclusively for PC. Gears 5, Gears Pop!, and Gears Tactics are expected to be released in 2019.
