Wizards of the Coast: New STAR WARS x D&D Crossover Details

Star Wars and D&D fans alike have been hungry for more news about the Dungeons & Dragons and Star Wars collaboration. Well, Lucasfilm and Wizards of the Coast are finally sharing a few more tidbits with superfans of both the galaxy far, far away and the Forgotten Realms. During the Disney/Lucasfilm publishing panel at New York Comic Con on October 9th, they revealed that we’ll be getting not one, but two sourcebooks for the upcoming game module. Details are still scarce, but here’s what we know.

STAR WARS and DUNGEONS & DRAGONS Are COLLABORATING

The first sourcebook, D&D | Star Wars, Core Rules, will be the building blocks for DMs and players alike to create their characters and adventures in the world of Star Wars. Basically, the Player’s Handbook, but for this particular flavor of the game. We don’t know if the sourcebook is built with D&D 2024/5.5e in mind, but I would lay odds it is.

You can adapt just about anything into D&D 5th edition and beyond, up to and including Star Wars! While it’s not the first time Wizards has dipped their toes into the idea of a Star Wars TTRPG in the past (Wizards previously released one independent of D&D in 2000, publishing updates until 2010), this one will be the first complete marriage between Dungeons & Dragons and Star Wars. And we hope they live happily ever after!

The second of the two sourcebooks D&D | Star Wars, Tyro Squadron: Adventures, will give DMs a metaphorical and literal map for various adventures they can lead their players through. You’ll be in the same galaxy as our heroes during the original trilogy, but far, far away, taking on the Empire as a secret Rebel crew. It’ll be so exciting for players to get a chance to weave their own stories into the overall narrative of Star Wars!

Needless to say, we’re eager to hear more, especially about character creation! I can’t wait to see what pre-built backgrounds will come with the rule book and Tyro Squadron: Adventures, never mind the various feats and subclasses we’ll no doubt see. The possibilities are endless, and we’ll be waiting right here to find out what’s next for what has the potential to be the greatest D&D collab thus far.
