Hold onto your hats, kids. Two of the biggest nerdy franchises around are coming together for an epic collaboration. Yes, we’re talking about Star Wars and Dungeons & Dragons. In 2027, we’re about to get THE collab of the century, but we don’t know too much about it yet. In fact, all we know is that a “Dungeons & Dragons | Star Wars™ collaboration will take place in the Season of Rebellion, coming 2027.” Listen, we just need those first four words to know we’re excited.
Of course, there have been other Star Wars TTRPG games before. But this OFFICIAL collab with THE biggest TTRPG of all is something totally unprecedented. How will your bards, mages, rogues, and more show up in a Star Wars Dungeons & Dragons game? Which land will this adventure be set it in? What kind of powers, spells, and objects will you have at your disposal? Which beloved Star Wars characters will serve as your NPCs? We have so many questions. But… as we said, not many answers.
Dan Ayoub, Head of Dungeons & Dragons Franchise at Wizards of the Coast had just a little bit more to share, he revealed, “With Universes Beyond, we are expanding Dungeons & Dragons into even more worlds we love, like World of Warcraft. At the same time, we are revisiting core D&D settings, including Dark Sun, Dragonlance, and Greyhawk. What’s more, in a crossover that fans have dreamed about for years, Star Wars is coming to Dungeons & Dragons for the first time, bringing the iconic galaxy to our players’ tabletops. Our wide range of announcements show that we are committed to delivering more choices, and more ways for friends and family to adventure together.”

Honestly, we are literally sitting here with our jaws open. Both Star Wars and Dungeons & Dragons have truly come so far. Once, these nerdy pastimes were considered weird, maybe even satanic. And today, they are joining forces for an incredible celebration. It’s a huge victory for weirdos, nerds, and geeks everywhere. If there was ever a lore-heavy world that fits perfectly into telling an epic tale of bravery, adventure, and fantasy, it’s Star Wars. Truly it’s like the biggest sci-fi franchise and the biggest fantasy one have melded into one.
We can’t help but think, Eddie Munson would have loved this!!! We know almost nothing about this Dungeons & Dragons Star Wars journey. But we know we are excited to play it.
