We’re not exactly surprised when LAIKA releases a gorgeous teaser trailer. The stop-motion animation studio only makes gorgeous movies. But even though we know that, the first look at the studio’s next feature film stopped us in our tracks. LAIKA’s teaser for its upcoming fantasy adventure Wildwood is absolutely stunning. And it looks like it will tell a story just as magical.
Yeah, we weren’t exaggerating when we said stunning. That’s true of the visuals, music, and story. This is a whopper of a teaser trailer. What exactly is happening here, though? Here’s the studio’s official synopsis of Wildwood:
After her baby brother is abducted by a murder of crows, headstrong teenager Prue McKeel launches a desperate rescue mission into the Impassable Wilderness—an enchanted forest hidden just beyond Portland, Oregon. Joined by her hapless but loyal classmate Curtis Mehlberg, Prue navigates a world of talking animals, bandits, and powerful figures driven by grief and ambition. As the pair is drawn into a conflict threatening the balance of the forest itself, Prue must discover the strength and belief she never knew she possessed. If she hopes to save her brother and protect Wildwood’s fragile future, she will have to risk everything.
The only thing as impressive as this teaser trailer is the film’s cast. No, seriously. Look at this list. The film stars Carey Mulligan, Peyton Elizabeth Lee, Jacob Tremblay, Richard E. Grant, Awkwafina, Amandla Stenberg, Tom Waits, Charlie Day, Blythe Danner, Arthur Knight, Maya Erskine, Jake Johnson, Tantoo Cardinal, Rob Delaney, Jemaine Clement, Marc Evan Jackson, Len Cariou, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, Angela Bassett, and Mahershala Ali.
LOL. What? Was the ghost of Laurence Olivier not available? Considering the star power of this movie, we won’t rule out his spirit making an unannounced cameo.

Wildwood comes from the team behind one of our favorites. Kubo and the Two Strings director Travis Knight and writer Chris Butler will take us on this newest fantasy adventure. They’re also the pair behind Masters of the Universe.
The only thing we don’t like about this teaser trailer is that it’ll make waiting for the full film very hard. Wildwood will open in theaters nationwide on October 23, 2026.
