Venom: Let There Be CarnageOpens in a new tab was, of course, based on Marvel characters. But so far, Eddie Brock and his symbiote buddy seemed very confined to their own little universe. (Well, at least until that Let There Be Carnage post-credits sceneOpens in a new tab). But even before the credits rolled, there was something hinting at a larger world for Venom. Thanks to a video released by SonyOpens in a new tab (via Comic BookOpens in a new tab), we see that there are a couple of Easter eggs in Cletus Kasady’s cell we all missed. One that telegraphs two big characters. Namely, Spider-Man and Morbius. You can see them highlighted in the video below:
As you can see in the video, In one corner of the massive drawing in Cletus’s cell, one can make out a spider weaving a web. Alongside it is the words “Fearless and therefore powerful.” We’re not sure if Peter Parker is totally fearlessOpens in a new tab, but it clearly refers to him. In the other corner, we can see a bat drawn by Cletus. Next to it, there’s a saying that goes “The real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light.” Seems like a very not vague reference to MorbiusOpens in a new tab.

Thanks to the post-credits sequence, we know Eddie Brock is now in the MCU. So that face-off against Spivey is inevitable. Whether it occurs in a fourth Tom Holland Spider-Man movie, or in Venom 3, it’s definitely happening. But what about Morbius? Will his movie take place in Venom’s original universeOpens in a new tab? The joke Morbius makes about being Venom in his last trailer suggests he exists in the same worldOpens in a new tab as Brock. However, there are posters in the Morbius trailer which suggest a version of Spidey exists in his universe too. So it can’t be the same one, right? That right there is the sound of our brains turning to mush. Hopefully, Sony and Marvel have this all figured out.
