Twins React to Fleetwood Mac’s “The Chain” For the First Time

Fleetwood Mac is back in the news these days thanks to the success of that “Dreams” TikTok video. You know the one. A man on his skateboard, straight up vibing to the classic Stevie Nicks tune while he sips Ocean Spray cranberry juice. It’s such a popular video that it catapulted the 1977 album Rumours back into the Billboard Top 10 charts. Fleetwood Mac is a super popular name once again; which means young people everywhere are discovering them for the first time. Including the twins from one of our favorite YouTube channels, TwinsthenewTrend.

The brothers—Tim and Fred Williams—have made a name for themselves reacting to classic tunes on their channel. We loved their reactions to songs like Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” and Phil Collins’ “In the Air Tonight.” Now, they’re reacting to one of the best songs off of Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours, “The Chain.” And as we might expect, their reaction is priceless.

“That was probably one of the best endings I’ve heard in my life,” one of the twins says of the finale for the song. They also noted the song’s “cowboy” elements, along with its funk and the “appreciation of the instrument”. And indeed that appreciation is there; because “The Chain” is the only song in the Fleetwood Mac repertoire that was co-written by the entirety of the Rumours-era lineup. (Lindsey Buckingham, Stevie Nicks, Mick Fleetwood, Christine McVie, and John McVie.) That’s part of why its sound and its lyrics still hold up the way they do—because it really is about a chain keeping the members together.
