Poison Ivy will apparently be the next DC Comics character to get a television show. This project, which was once paused, seems to be back in play now that Warner Bros. and Paramount have joined forces. And, as Deadline reports, The Penguin showrunner Lauren LeFranc is in talks to join the show as a producer. It is not completely clear if LeFranc would write any episodes nor if she will be a showrunner. Right now, details are very sparse, and HBO has yet to order the project to series, so it is the very, very early days.

Still, the idea of LeFranc having creative involvement in a Poison Ivy series is quite exciting. We all know the magic that she spun with The Penguin, from its storyline to its very nuanced characters. As far as where this show would fit in, it is reportedly not a part of Matt Reeves Batman Universe, which includes the RPatz Batman. At this rate, this show might come out before his The Batman Part II. I’m kidding. Sort of. If they are looking for someone to be Poison Ivy, it would be kinda fun to get Stranger Things alum Maya Hawke to portray the character, considering her mom Uma Thurman did in Batman & Robin.
But that doesn’t necessarily mean that it will be DCU canon either. We will have to wait and see if it even comes to fruition before we start to piece it into a specific world. Honestly, it is high time to get a live-action Poison Ivy in action once again. Sure, she was great in the animated Harley Quinn series, but we haven’t seen a live-action Poison Ivy since the third season of Batwoman in 2022. Let’s cross our fingers and hope that this delightfully diabolical character gets her own show.
