It’s been almost six years since The Office ended and we’re still not over it. Yes, the show lives on in perpetuity thanks to streaming services like Netflix, where all nine seasons live on, ready for re-watches and new discovery. But that doesn’t mean we’ve moved on from loving this cast, who have shown us time and time again that their bond is like that of a family; always game for a big Office reunion, always there for one another.
That was certainly true when Jenna Fischer, who played lovable secretary-turned-salesperson Pam Beesley, appeared on Busy Phillips’ talk show Busy Tonight on E! this week. Fischer is currently promoting her new sitcom, Splitting Up Together, but is also about to celebrate her 45th birthday on March 7. In honor of the occasion, Phillips had Fischer’s former Office cast members send her presents. But there was one extra-special present in the biggest box on the stage: Michael Scott himself, Steve Carrell!
After opening a box of raisin crackers from Ellie Kemper (Erin Hannon), a t-shirt with a loaf of bread on it from real-life BFF Angela Kinsey (Angela Martin), and a bango from Ed Helms (Andy Bernard), Phillips brought Fisher over to a box that Carrell unexpectedly popped out of. A clearly overwhelmed Fischer appeared emotional at the reconciliation. Us too, Jenna. Us, too.
This isn’t the first time in recent memory that The Office cast have spent time together. Back in December, several of them – including Fischer, Kinsey, and Helms – met up for brunch, along with the show’s creator, Greg Daniels, sparking rumors of a revival.
There was also a mini-reunion for the show when Fischer, Kemper, and Helms appeared in Carell’s opening monologue when he hosted Saturday Night Live last November.
We have no idea if these are random meet-ups between loving cast members, or if it’s signaling a big return to the small-screen, but we’ll take whatever we can get with this cast. (Oh, and happy birthday, Jenna!)
