THE MUPPET SHOW Returns With Delightful Full Trailer, Reveals Guest Star Maya Rudolph

It’s (almost) time to play the music, light the lights, and meet the Muppets on The Muppet Show once again. Disney has released the first full trailer for its upcoming special/possible reboot pilot, and it’s as funny, irreverent, and delightful as we hoped.

The Muppet Show is coming back. Or at least it is for one glorious night. But as this wonderful trailer for the Seth Rogen-led special teases, it could lead to more. If it’s a big enough hit, Disney could decide to bring back the beloved show which originally ran from 1976 through 1981.

But that’s something we’ll (try to) worry about later. For now we’re ready to return to that iconic Muppets theater to be entertained by this legendary group. Here’s what we can expect when we do according to the special’s official synopsis from Disney:

It’s The Muppet Show! Kermit, Miss Piggy and the beloved Muppets ensemble are back with a brand-new special event. Music, comedy, and a whole lot of chaos are bound to ensue when The Muppets once again take the stage of the original Muppet Theatre with their very special guest, Sabrina Carpenter.

As this trailer revealed for the first time, Maya Rudolph is also getting in on the fun of The Muppet Show. She is a truly perfect person to invite to The Muppet Show. We’re also already confident Sabrina Carpenter was an inspired choice as the main guest star for the special, directed by Alex Timbers.

If, like us, you hope this special ultimately ends up being a pilot, make sure you tune in when it really is time for The Muppet Show to play the music. It returns on February 4, first on Disney+ at 3:00 a.m. EST. It will then air that night at ABC at 9:00 p.m. EST/PST.

Hopefully on February 5 we find out we won’t have to wait long to see another installment of The Muppet Show.
