THE BEAR Will Serve Its Final Meal with Season 5

The fast-paced inner workings of the culinary industry have never captured our interest quite like The Bear. Albeit chaotic and anxiety-inducing at times, the dramatic narrative of Head Chef Carmy Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White) as he gripes with the reality of running a restaurant in Chicago is one we just can’t seem to turn away from. Soon, the chef steps into the kitchen for the last time. The FX-produced series closes with its fifth and final season later this year.

The end of The Bear is one we all saw coming. The show, which premiered on Hulu in 2022, was originally intended for a four-season story arc, according to series creator Christopher Storer. And that would’ve made sense, too. The final episode of season four, entitled “Goodbye,” saw Carmy leave the restaurant and the culinary business altogether. But, just a week after season four premiered, FX renewed The Bear for season five. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight on Tuesday, Jamie Lee Curtis spoke about the show’s conclusion. Curtis has won an Emmy for her recurring role as Carmy and Natalie’s (Abby Elliott) mother in the show.

“It is the end of the show,” she said in response to an Instagram post from February 17. “Everybody knows it’s the end of the show. I’m not breaking any news to anybody. It’s the end of the show—they’ve said it from the beginning.”

Speculation broke when Curtis wrote “FINISHED STRONG” in the caption of her post, referencing the end of the hit FX series. FX declined to comment. Spanning its first three seasons, The Bear took home 21 Emmy Awards, including the award for Best Comedy Series in 2023. White, Curtis, Ayo Edebiri, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Jon Bernthal have all claimed acting honors for their roles in the series.

The Bear season five is currently filming in and around Chicago and will debut later this year. Serving the show’s last meal, season five will conclude the story.
