Every season of Taskmaster has at least one contestant whose brain works in such weird and wonderful ways. For the current season, Series 22, at the halfway point, that person tends to be Isy Suttie. The musical comedian always seems to come at tasks from a very left field direction. Behind her constant smile is a peculiarly devilish sense of humor. Nowhere is that more evident than in a task from this week’s episode six. In our exclusive clip (below), we get to see the contestants read the task at hand plus watch Isy offer a macabre version of a “Whoopsie.”
I always love the tasks which require interpreting the specific wording in your own unique style. “Do a Whoopsie” is such an open-ended and unclear direction. Isy’s interpretation is to dress like a nightmare clown who comes in hot with the wackiness without realizing she’s actually entering a funeral for Taskmaster’s assistant Alex Horne. That in and of itself would be a pretty good whoopsie, but Isy makes a further mockery of it by dropping a massive cake on the corpse’s face.
This clip made me really want to see what the other four contestants have to offer. Along with Isy this year are Chloe Petts, Matt Lucas, Nina Conti, and Richard Ayoade. It’s already been a hilarious season with Taskmaster Greg Davies in equally top form. There’s a reason Thursdays are my favorite days of the week.
