When most people talk about lost loves, they’re referring to people. When I do, it’s almost always food related. That is especially true of my beloved Choco Taco, the greatest ice cream truck foodstuff ever devised. I will forever miss that beautiful creation that was too pure for this world. But Taco Bell wants to help fill that giant dessert hole in my sweet-loving heart with a new menu item. The fast food chain has launched a new Salt & Straw Churro Ice Cream Taco. And unlike some other special items, this one has arrived at all locations.

After giving the world the spicy Tacolate last year, Taco Bell and Salt & Straw have partnered once again. This time they’re very much trying to fill that Choco Taco vacuum. They two companies have teamed for a Churro Ice Cream Taco ($3.99) that is a lot more similar to that lost dessert than the Tacolate was. This new version features “a new creamy Churro Ice Cream inside a crispy waffle cone shell, finished with puffed rice and a dark chocolate-flavored coating.”
I would like to eat…and I don’t want to exaggerate this number…700 of them. And I can, because they’ve already arrived at all Taco Bell stores. If you want its sister sweet release, though, you’ll have to get to a Live Más Café. That’s where you can also grab a Salt & Straw Choco-Waffle Chiller. Taco Bell says it’s “a blended frozen sip inspired by the taco.” Like the Ice Cream Taco, it will only be available on menus for a limited time. But the Chiller will be much more exclusive, as it’s only coming to locations in California, Las Vegas, Houston, and Dallas.
I’m not in any of those places, but it’s fine. It’s fine. Mostly fine. So long as I get my 700 Salt & Straw Churro Ice Cream Tacos I’ll be okay. Then, when it goes away, I will not be. If it fills the Choco Taco hole in my heart it will leave an even bigger one when it goes away, too.
