After the credits, we head back to Gateway Galaxy, where Peach and Toad first met Fox McCloud. It’s also where the tiny monkey Ukiki stole all of Toad’s supplies. When the scene opens, Ukiki pulls the same “I’m cute, come close so I can thieve you” stunt. This time, it’s on a Whittle (one of the little tree-cut guys from the game Super Mario Galaxy 2). When the Ukiki runs away, it suddenly receives a swift punch to the face, sending it flying.

The first has a lace glove. As the camera pans, it reveals the distinctive yellow dress and brown hair of another princess, Princess Daisy. Daisy first appeared all the way back in 1989’s Super Mario Land, the first Gameboy game in the Mario series. Since, she has shown up in dozens of games across the main series, Mario Kart, Smash Bros., and more. This seems to tee-up her appearance in the inevitable third movie. This movie only refers to Rosalina and Peach as sisters, but perhaps Daisy will be from another dimension, a-la Fox.

More interesting, perhaps, is who doesn’t appear in the movie. Many fans expected Wario and Waluigi, or other Yoshi-related characters, to appear in The Super Mario Galaxy movie, but not to be. We do however get Wart, Mouser, Birdo, and Clawgrip from Super Mario Bros. 2 in a fun middle sequence. Still, other than them, the villains remain Bowser and the myriad Koopas.
