STREET FIGHTER’s Ryu Vs. Blanka Teaser Is Electrifying

The World Warrior Tournament will dominate the big screen when Street Fighter hits theaters this October. The Paramount Pictures and Legendary film will bring the infamous video game to live-action. Its cast is stacked, with stars like Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson III, Noah Centineo, Eric Andre, David Dastmalchian, Andrew Koji, and Jason Momoa. Speaking of the latter two, who play Ryu and Blanka, respectively, there’s a new special look at Street Fighter that shows them in a tense fighting scene.

In it, guards drag Ryu into the center of a room with incarcerated men caged and screaming all around them. Bison speaks to Ryu, saying he knows what he’s capable of… and so do we. It appears that he’s going to fight three men in chains, but all of them are soon dispatched by none other than Blanka.

This green and beastly guy does his signature moves, like sending an electric current to shock someone, and Ryu says he does not wish to fight him. Blanka is not trying to hear that and Ryu counteracts with the Hadouken, placing his palms in front of him to send a ball of ki towards Blanka. This Street Fighter Blanka vs. Ryu special look is electrifying, indeed.

Here’s the synopsis for Street Fighter:

Set in 1993, estranged Street Fighters Ryu (Andrew Koji) and Ken Masters (Noah Centineo) are thrown back into combat when the mysterious Chun-Li (Callina Liang) recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament: a brutal clash of fists, fate, and fury. But behind this battle royale lies a deadly conspiracy that forces them to face off against each other and the demons of their past. And if they don’t, it’s GAME OVER!
