Cal Kestis is coming back. And he’s coming back a better Jedi. (Not to mention a bearded one.) Of course, that just means he has an even bigger Imperial target on his back. Not great for him, obviously. But the new gameplay trailer for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor shows why that will be for fans. Especially because his new skills will mean all new ways of fighting.
Respawn Entertainment, EA, and Lucasfilm Games chose this year’s Game Awards to share the latest look at the highly-anticipated sequel to 2019’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. And you know it’s a good trailer because we’re ready to fight stormtroopers right now.
The game’s official logline provides an update on Cal’s life (voiced by Cameron Monaghan) since we left him. It also hints at what awaits him. That will include some familiar faces from his first adventure. From EA:
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor picks up five years after the events of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order™, as Cal continues to grow as a Jedi and evade the Empire’s constant pursuit. With trusty companion BD-1 by his side, he joins forces with new and old allies to aid him on his quest, including the mercenary Bode Akuna (Noshir Dalal) and former crew member Cere Junda (Debra Wilson). With new traversal options such as an ascension cable to reach new heights and the ability to tame and ride creatures, Cal has many ways to navigate the perils he will face as he explores both familiar and new worlds across the galaxy.
The game will also feature some new components not seen in the original. The developers say that includes “numerous combat stances” for enhanced gameplay. Players will have the option to engages in ‘Dual Lightsabers for lightning fast gameplay and a new Crossguard stance, that brings a measured, but hard-hitting combat option to help Cal defeat threats standing in his way – from Stormtroopers and Imperial Sentry Droids to powerful beings shrouded in mystery.”
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor joins the fight next spring on March 17. You can grab it ($69.99) for the Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. It will also be on PC at EA app, Steam, and Epic Games Store. Pre-orders will get an “Obi-Wan Kenobi-inspired” Cosmetic Pack. And those who opt for the Deluxe edition will also obtain a bonus cosmetics package that pay homage to Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, and R2-D2. You can learn more at the game’s official website.
But we’re just going to rewatch this trailer about a hundred more times instead. That might be the only way we can survive the wait for Survivor to come out.
