Catch Thieves Just Like Flies in This SPIDER-MAN Video Game Retro Trailer

Years ago, Uncle BenOpens in a new tab told Peter ParkerOpens in a new tab that “With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility.” It’s gotten Peter through quite a lot in his career as Spider-ManOpens in a new tab, but one piece of advice he didn’t receive was “With one catchy song comes years of entertainment.” io9Opens in a new tab reminded us of this great advice when they reported that YouTuberOpens in a new tab Ascender took the classic Spider-Man theme song and created a retro trailer for this fall’s long-awaited video game.

It starts off like one of the classic movie trailers of the 1950s, with big fonts and grainy film. Then the song kicks in, and Ascender spliced video game footage in with the music to make it fit perfectly. Luckily, we live in 2018, so they were able to cut in different scenes for each part of the song, instead of recycling the same four web-slinging scenes over and over…and over…and over again, like the 1967 cartoon is infamous for doing. Sony was also able to afford webbing over the entire costume and not just the mask.

We are kidding a lot about that 1960s cartoon, but its popularity helped Spider-Man gain the icon status he has today. Without it, we probably wouldn’t have Tom HollandOpens in a new tab spoiling movies for us left and right, or an “amazing” looking game to look forward to this fall on the PS4.

So what do you think? Would you like to play a version of the game in the universe of the 1967 cartoon? Let us know on Facebook or sound off in the comments below.
