Recently, we had a chance to spend a few hours with Sony’s upcoming Spider-Man game for the Playstation 4, and we were blown away by its presentation. But now gamers won’t have to wait long to play it themselves. Spider-Man is hitting the Playstation 4 on September 7, and a new launch trailer is thrusting fans into Spidey’s NYC. The latest footage from the game also features the apparent first meeting between Spidey and Miles Morales, the kid who’ll eventually carry the web-slinging torch.
In a departure from their dynamic in the comics, Peter Parker and Miles Morales are contemporaries in this Spider-Man game. It’s unclear if Miles will also be suiting up as Spidey in this game, but he will prove to be one of the key supporting characters as players take on several of Spidey’s greatest villains. The trailer offers only a tease of Kingpin, Mister Negative, Rhino, and Scorpion. Even Silver Sable, one of Spidey’s traditional allies, appears to have it out for him this time.
The trailer also shows us some of the incredible moves that Spidey can pull off during the game, including a helicopter sequence that taxes his abilities to bring it down safely. Even at the beginning of this experience, players are going to step into the role of a Spider-Man, who is at the peak of his powers and skills. Where he goes from there, is entirely up to them.
