This Is What Tom Holland’s Symbiote Suit Could Look Like

It’s been several weeks since Spider-Man: No Way Home hit theaters. And we’re all still reeling from its game-changing plot twists and alterations to the Spidey mythos. But now, we’re looking to the future. And the potential new trilogy starring Tom Holland as Peter Parker. Which, of course, is not official yet. But is nevertheless probably on the way. Needless to say, for you few who have not seen No Way Home yet…

Thomas du Crest is a concept artist who works for Marvel Studios. And he recently posted some amazing art which he says “is a small take on what might come next.” Longtime comics fans, or anyone who grew up on the ’90s Spider-Man: The Animated Series, know what these mean. The Black Costume/Venom saga is on the way. At some point.

The post-credits scene for No Way Home shows Eddie Brock pulled into the MCU’s Earth, as a continuation to the post-credits scene from Venom: Let There Be Carnage. We learned that this resulted from Doctor Strange’s spell. It also means that there was a “ Sinister Six” after all. (Only, the sixth member was getting plastered in a bar in Mexico). But after getting sent back home, we see Eddie left a little piece of himself behind. Or should we say, a piece of the Venom symbiote.

So, now we have our explanation of how the symbiote got to the MCU. Inevitably it’s going to find Peter Parker and bond with him, thus starting the MCU version of the Black Costume saga. (It seems Tobey Maguire’s Peter never got around to warning Tom Holland’s Peter to stay the heck away from living black goo). If they go with Thomas du Crest’s concepts, the black costume will be way more comics-accurate. We all just want the big white spider emblem, gosh darn it. We’ve been waiting for that since 2007!

Remember, these images, cool as they may be, are not confirmation that the alien symbiote saga begins in the next Spidey movie. But between this art and the end of No Way Home, we’ve got to imagine it is definitely coming at some point. Our best guess? The next trilogy will build-up to this story. Peter might get the symbiote in a post-credits scene in the next film, with the story playing out over the next two movies. Instead of making the mistake of rushing it all like they did in Raimi’s Spider-Man 3. Here’s hoping they do it right this time.
