Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard hit the SNL stage as a host, and his appearance did not disappoint. He was more than willing to poke some fun at himself during his opening monologue. And, of course, there had to be a segment to poke a little fun at Stranger Things and the ongoing chatter about sequels, prequels, secret episodes, and all types of things that we are not going to get with those characters. In these SNL sketches, we get several imagined shows that would actually kind of work as follow-ups for Stranger Things, including one where Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, and Caleb McLaughlin are giving Sex in the City vibes.
Up first is Strangerous Minds, a play on the 1995 film Dangerous Minds that starred Michelle Pfeiffer as a former Marine who starts a pilot program in a dangerous inner city high school. Steve going into a high school to help wayward youth totally checks out. He’s certainly seen things that would scare those kiddos straight. There’s also The Wheeler Report, which features an older Nancy Wheeler investigating popular true crime cases.
And, finally there’s Mike in Manhattan, where Mike is in NYC and having cosmos with his pals Dustin and Lucas. Dustin notes that the problems with his dating life have been a, ahem, never-ending story of bad luck. And Lucas says he’s still with Max, but she’s not a very active participant when it comes to their intimate time together. Yikesss. People are certainly not happy about that line, and for good reason. Also it’s kinda jarring to see them chatting that way in general, even though it’s a Stranger Things SNL sketch. But they are all adults IRL at this point.

We even get some fun bits, like Will taking forever to tell his loved ones that he’s gay, Ted Wheeler being useless, and the Mike/Dustin/Lucas team poking fun at the Conformity Gate foolishness. No, Millie Bobby Brown doesn’t appear as Eleven, but SNL star Kenan Thompson does. Overall, it’s a pretty darn good clip that pokes lighthearted fun at Stranger Things’ fervent fanbase.
