Some duos are truly a creative match made in heaven, like DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince as well as Key and Peele. You just know whenever they link up for a project that it is going to be fire. That is certainly the case for director Ryan Coogler and (the extremely fine) actor Michael B. Jordan. Their films, including Black Panther and Creed, are always creatively rich and stunning. So when word dropped that Michael B. Jordan and Ryan Coogler were working on a secret film that was rumored to be about vampires, fans were immediately in. No premise needed, just the vibes and sheer talent of these two men. Now, we finally have a trailer for Ryan Coogler’s upcoming film Sinners, which stars Michael B. Jordan as twin brothers who return home and discover horrors beyond their imagination.
Here’s a quick synopsis of Sinners to accompany this intriguing and intense trailer:
Trying to leave their troubled lives behind, twin brothers (Jordan) return to their hometown to start again, only to discover that an even greater evil is waiting to welcome them back.
Between that and the trailer, it can be left up to our interpretation of what this evil actually is. From everything that has been rumored and whispered so far, Sinners will involve vampires and Michael B. Jordan is apparently fighting them. At least, we think he is. I’d be down to see one twin fight a vampire while the other is a vampire. I’d also like to see that fight happen with neither twin wearing sleeves so we can see as many muscles as possible.
But back to the actual trailer. In a world where we often get far too much information about a film and trailers tend to show majority of the movie, I love that we have a few more months to speculate on what’s going on here. Sinners was shot in New Orleans and appears to line up with reports that it is an original story by Ryan Coogler (who is a genius) that will take place in the 1930s Jim Crow-era in the South. That adds a whole new layer of what could be happening here. Are racists the vampires that he must eliminate? Perhaps so. Either way, I will be seated.
In addition to Jordan, Sinners stars Hailee Steinfeld, Jack O’Connell, Wunmi Mosaku, Jayme Lawson, Omar Benson Miller, and Delroy Lindo.
What Is the Release Date for Michael B. Jordan and Ryan Coogler’s Sinners Movie?
