So who has joined the cast of Shadow and Bone season two? Well, it turns out, some long-awaited fan-favorites characters: Tamar Kir-Bataar, Nikolai Lantsov, Tolya Yul-Bataar, and Wylan Hendriks.
A release from Netflix shares:
It was previously announced that Netflix’s critically-acclaimed fantasy series Shadow and Bone, based on Leigh Bardugo’s worldwide bestselling Grishaverse novels, had been renewed for a second season. Today, Netflix announced that Anna Leong Brophy, Patrick Gibson, Lewis Tan and Jack Wolfe will be joining the cast for the second season as series regulars in addition to Danielle Galligan, Daisy Head and Calahan Skogman being promoted to series regulars as the series starts production. Bola Ogun, Laura Belsey, Karen Gaviola and Mairzee Almas will direct this season.
Anna Leong Brophy (she/her) will play Tamar Kir-Bataar. (Past Credits: Back, Traces)
Patrick Gibson (he/him) will play Nikolai Lantsov. (Past Credits: The Portable Door, The OA)
Lewis Tan (he/him) will play Tolya Yul-Bataar. (Past Credits: Mortal Kombat, Wu Assassins)
Jack Wolfe (he/him) will play Wylan Hendriks. (Past Credits: The Magic Flute; The Witcher)
Danielle Galligan (she/her) has been promoted to series regular in her role of Nina Zenik.
Daisy Head (she/her) has been promoted to series regular in her role of Genya Safin.
Calahan Skogman (he/him) has been promoted to series regular in his role of Matthias Helvar.
Fans have eagerly anticipated Nikolai Lantsov’s casting, at least online fandom has. Charming and handsome, Nikolai’s relationships with the already existing cast of characters, especially Zoya and Alina, will surely delight viewers, new and old.
New season. New cast. We'll see you all in the shadows. pic.twitter.com/8B4AdhZrJE— Shadow And Bone (@shadowandbone_) January 13, 2022
Wylan Hendriks, meanwhile, has his fate more entwined with the Crows. No spoilers, for however much one can spoil an adaptation. But… we can’t wait to see his story fall into place. All we’ll say? We hope Milo the goat approves of him.
We also feel very excited to see Tamar Kir-Bataar and Tolya Yul-Bataar come to our screens. A powerful sibling duo if there ever was one. And we could not agree more with the casting decisions.
Finally, we love seeing some of our original favs get promoted to series regulars. Matthias, Nina, and Genya ranked as season one standouts. And the knowledge that they will feature more prominently means only good things to come.
Fingers and antlers crossed for a Shadow and Bone season two release date soon.
