Move over, Doctor Strange and Doctor Doom. The Marvel Universe is getting a new Sorcerer Supreme, and it’s a promotion that is long overdue. Launching in January 2026, Wanda Maximoff, the Scarlet Witch, will headline Sorcerer Supreme, a new ongoing series from Iceman writer Steve Orlando and artist Bernard Chang (Wonder Woman). Artist Russell Dauterman has also designed a new costume for Wanda, showcasing the Eye of Agamotto. Dauterman is also illustrating variant covers for the first five issues. Each of Dauterman’s covers spotlights a member of Wanda’s advisory council, including her son Billy, a.k.a. Wiccan, and others. Over the last few decades, Wanda has had quite the journey. She’s lost control of her powers, decimated the Avengers, erased the mutant X-gene, discovered Magneto was not her father, and reunited with her twin children. And all that’s just scratching the surface. In recent years, Doctor Strange has lost the title of Sorcerer Supreme to the likes of Doctor Voodoo, Loki, and, most recently, Doctor Doom himself. Can Wanda hold on to the position longer than former villains like Doom and Loki? We’ll have to wait and see. And we’ll also have to wait and see if Wanda’s new comic book direction inspires her MCU future.
