Spider-Man director Sam Raimi returned to Marvel superhero movies with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in 2022. Since then, fans have wondered if Raimi would ever get the chance to do a proper Spider-Man 4 with Tobey Maguire returning to his role. And the Get Help director has gone back and forth on whether he has any more web-slinging adventures left in him. However, we know after Spider-Man: No Way Home that the Tobey version of Peter Parker is out there in the multiverse somewhere. So, the potential is there. Now, in an interview with the Associated Press (via Deadline), Raimi sprinkled a little more hope on a possible return. Here’s what he had to say:
So, I think the kids would like to see him. Right now, Marvel is very successful on their own tangent with their own Spider-Man, where he is involved with The Avengers and the other superheroes. So, I don’t think it makes sense right now to break up that great, successful run they’re having, just to allow me to make another Spider-Man movie. But I’d love to. The day might come, and I’d love to do it.

So while it may happen someday, don’t hold your breath for it happening in the near future. Probably not until Tom Holland ends his tenure under the mask. Which is at least a few years away still. As for where a fourth Raimi movie could go? Well, we wouldn’t expect his original plans from two decades ago to go forward. It feels like a John Malkovich as the Vulture story is a ship that has definitely sailed.
However, we are strong advocates of Peter and MJ, now married with a teenage Mayday Parker, a.k.a. Spider-Girl, as their superhero daughter. Who knows? Maybe that’s something we get hints toward in Avengers: Secret Wars. We’ll have to wait and see.
