RICK AND MORTY Season 7 Gets October Premiere Date and First Image

How are you going to celebrate the return of Rick and Morty when the animated series’ seventh season debuts? Based on the first official new image from the hit show’s next year you might want to make lasagna. And based on when it will premiere you might also want to bust out your best Mr. Poopybutthole costume. Adult Swim has announced Rick and Morty will come back this fall in time for Halloween. However, instead of candy, Rick is serving Italian.

And yes, the network says he and his grandson will still sound like themselves when we meet them again.

In this universe, Rick and Morty‘s will be back on Sunday, October 15 at 11:00 p.m. ET/PT. Adult Swim announced the premiere date with a new image from the upcoming seventh season. It features Rick holding a tray of food with a wild look in his eyes.

When the show returns, it will do so without co-creator and the original voice of the show’s titular stars, Justin Roiland. Adult Swim fired him earlier this year after serious allegations. (Note: Criminal charges against him have since been dropped, but those were not all of the allegations made against him at the time.)

The announcement tweet accompanied a poster depicting Rick, Morty, and Summer parodying the poster for the Michael Bay classic Bad Boys. Adult Swim’s press release about the premiere included a joke about what fans can expect to hear from the still-unnamed new voices of Rick and Morty. Producers have said they will be soundalikes. It also sounds like the show will be the same one we know and love. From Adult Swim:

Rick and Morty are back and sounding more like themselves than ever! It’s season seven, and the possibilities are endless: what’s up with Jerry? EVIL Summer?! And will they ever go back to the high school?! Maybe not! But let’s find out! There’s probably less piss than last season. “Rick and Morty,” 100 years! Or at least until season 10!

A previous promo for season seven also teased that Rick and his Rick archenemy will resume their feud.

We’re not sure just yet how we’re going to celebrate the show’s return. (Lasagna really is an excellent idea.) But we’re definitely not dressing up like that awful Rick. Even if he looks like our Rick, we promise that’s not what we’re doing.
