Once again, horror is set to have another stunning year thanks to films like Lee Cronin’s The Mummy and Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil. Speaking of the latter, this reboot will tell an original story set in the famed game universe, with some inspiration from the second through fourth games specifically. We also know that the film will hit theaters on September 18, 2026. We saw the teaser during CinemaCon 2026 that gave us more information about Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil reboot film, and now everyone can finally enjoy it.
It will star Austin Abrams along with Paul Walter Hauser, Kali Reis, Zach Cherry, and Johnno Wilson. In the Resident Evil teaser trailer, A man comes to a house and asks if he can use the phone, but it is to no avail. He leaves a message for someone, saying he’s sorry that they got disconnected earlier, but some really f**ked up things happened, and now they may not talk again. And that’s an understatement considering the grotesque monsters and gore that we see. It certainly evokes the spirit of Resident Evil games.

The official synopsis for Resident Evil shares, “From the mind of visionary filmmaker Zach Cregger (Weapons, Barbarian) comes a thrilling — and terrifying — reinvention of the Resident Evil franchise. In an all-new story, Resident Evil follows Bryan (Austin Abrams), a medical courier who unwittingly finds himself in an action-packed, non-stop race for survival as one fateful, horrifying night collapses around him in chaos.“
