Avengers: Doomsday is still months from release, but casting has already begun for its follow-up film, 2027’s Avengers: Secret Wars. And although much of the cast of Doomsday is expected to return, Marvel is still casting some new roles for the film. One of them is Sadie Sink, who we now know is playing Jean Grey. And now, via Deadline, we’ve learned that her on-stage Romeo & Juliet co-star, Noah Jupe, is joining her in Secret Wars in an undisclosed role. Audiences would recognize Jupe from his roles in A Quiet Place and A Quiet Place Part II. Most recently, he starred alongside Hugh Jackman in A24’s The Death of Robin Hood.
So who could Noah Jupe be playing? Well, we’d have to look at what major MCU roles have yet to be cast, and could be introduced. The fact that he worked on stage with Sadie Sink is telling. She might have recommended him for the role, as the two have a successful previous working relationship. Secret Wars might introduce the 21-year-old actor, but he could go on to work with Sink in Marvel’s X-Men reboot. After all, that comes out the following year. If that’s the case, he has the right look and is the right age to play Bobby Drake, better known as Iceman.
There are other options, however. If we get a significant time jump, he could be playing an older version of Franklin Richards, the powerful son of Reed and Susan Richards of the Fantastic Four. He’s a key player in the comic book Secret Wars, although he’s only a pre-teen in that series. Maybe the Russo Brothers are aging him up even further. Another option is Hulkling. Rumor has it the Young Avengers characters (Wiccan, Speed, Ms. Marvel, Cassie Lang, and Kate Bishop) will play a big role in Secret Wars. Hulkling remains one of the last major Young Avengers uncast. And as with Iceman, he’s the right age. We imagine rumors will start circulating before too long about which Marvel Comics character Jupe will play.
Avengers: Secret Wars lands in theaters on December 17, 2027.
