Who doesn’t love Pokémon? The cute little monsters you could (sometimes) hypothetically fit in your pocket? The rad sidekicks that we always wanted as kids? The potential moneymakers in the strangely legal fighting rings that the entire economy of the Poké world is based on? Well, in a series of drawings by Abz.Art, the classic creatures are reimagined with their iconic types switched and mixed, and it is a whole lot of fun.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the way that Pokémon are categorized, there are 18 subsections of the species which each of the creatures fit into fire, water, grass, electric, ground, ice, flying, rock, steel, normal, fighting, ghost, dark, psychic, poison, dragon, fairy, and bug. For example, Pikachu is an electric type, Squirtle is a water type, and Bulbasaur is a grass type. This collection of gorgeous type-switched illustrations includes such rad creations as a fire type Blastoise, a grass type Charizard, a dragon type Raichu, and even an ice type Zapdos.
We love these rad reimaginings that open up a whole new world of Poké-talents and powers. Personally, we’d love to play our fave Pokémon game with the ability to change up the type of the iconic critters. Though it seems unlikely, this has got us dreaming. Who knows what the future may bring?
