Up until now, the PS5 controller has been pretty generic, coming only in black and white. But that’s about to change, and get a little bit sleeker and even cooler. According to the official Playstation Blog, we’ve learned that two new colors will be joining the DualSense controller lineup starting next month. The new color schemes are Midnight Black and Cosmic Red.
You can see the video reveal for the new controllers right here, which shows more details from different angles. It also shows the controllers bursting out of a supernova in the depths of space. So, this is already way better than the average gender reveal party.
The Midnight Black showcases two subtly different shades of black, with some light grey detailing. This color scheme reflects how we view space through the night sky. The Cosmic Red shows off a black and red design inspired by “the unique vivid shades of red found throughout the cosmos.” The DualSense controller is a pretty big change from Playstation’s previous ones. It delivers innovative features like haptic feedback, as well as adaptive triggers.

In a statement from the company, they said, “Both Midnight Black and Cosmic Red feature a subtle blue hue, that produces unique shades of red and black. A blue hue is also present in the original DualSense wireless controller colors, so all three colors compliment each other nicely. The controller’s button colors and detailing completely complement the brand new colors as well.” We still aren’t sure if more colors will show up down the line.

You can pre-order the Midnight Black controller now for the PS5 now, for the price of $69.99. You can also pre-order the Cosmic Red for $74.99, if you want to have both new colors. Both are due out on June 11.
