Have you ever wanted to have tentacles? How about the urge to crush the bones of the traumatized in especially crunchy and horrifying ways? No? Yes? Either way, you probably do want to know more about the inner minds of your favorite Stranger Things heroes and villains. And that’s what a surprise new Stranger Things game will allow you to do. Because when you play this VR video game, for now titled Stranger Things VR, you get to become Vecna. Take a look at the Stranger Things VR trailer below.
The description for this new video shares:
Play as Vecna in this new Stranger Things adventure in VR. Become an explorer of unknown realities as you form the hive mind and tame the void. Invade minds and conjure nightmares in your quest to enact revenge on Eleven and Hawkins.
An additional synopsis from the Stranger Things VR game developer, Tender Claws, which we saw on Upload, adds:
Stranger Things VR will allow fans to experience the world of Stranger Things from the never-before-seen perspective of Vecna as he explores unknown realities, forms the hive mind, and enacts his plan for revenge against Eleven and Hawkins. Players will invade the dreams and memories of fan favorite characters and harness telekinetic powers to battle humans and creatures alike, as Henry Creel’s transformation into Vecna and his influence on the events of prior seasons is revealed.
Interestingly, it sounds like this VR video game will reveal many things about the world of Stranger Things. On Stranger Things 4, we only really saw into the mind of Max, with brief glimpses into other main characters’ internal workings. But fans wondered, across the board, what it might look like if Vecna infiltrated the brains of other fan-favorite characters like Steve or Dustin. It sounds like, thanks to this new video game, we may get to explore those what-ifs.
Additionally, Stranger Things VR sounds like it stands to shed a ton of light on Vecna. What exactly was this Stranger Things villain doing before we met him? We know loosely, but the game feels almost like a Stranger Things retelling through Vecna’s eyes. That is some fascinating stuff. And honestly, this VR video game may set us up majorly for Stranger Things 5.
The game will arrive on “major VR platforms in winter 2023.” Which could be just around the corner… Or a year away. Either way, get ready. Soon, it is you who is Vecna.
