Walk 12 Miles Through Paris from Your Couch

The last 12 months haven’t been ideal for global travel, or much travel at all. We’ve all seen way more of our homes than we ever imagined. But we can finally start daydreaming about future trips. Maybe some of you have already booked flights and places to stay around the world. And if you don’t feel ready to even think about traveling yet, that’s obviously okay. Your comfort levels are just that: yours. If you find yourself wanting a taste of the great wide somewhere, though, the YouTube channel Prowalk Tours can help. They share videos of guided tours in some of the world’s most iconic places. Like Paris, France.

We first learned about Prowalk Tours at Laughing Squid. We pressed play and immediately felt transported to another place. The above video wanders 12 miles through the beautiful city. You can stay on your couch and visit locales such as the Eiffel Tower, the lively Latin Quarter, the Louvre, and much more. The tour unfolds in the captions so you can fully hear and appreciate the sounds of the city.

The Paris video clocks in at over five hours because of how much ground it covers. If you’d rather take a shorter trip, don’t worry. Prowalk Tours offers a number of 30 minute tours. Go through the fish market in Catania, Sicily. Stroll through Venice. The below video focuses on the Paris catacombs.

So quiet and eerie. This one is kinda like an ASMR video.

We’ll get back to visiting all the wondrous places on our list one day. Then we can play tourist and soak in new environments and learn about other cultures firsthand. But until then, taking virtual walks serves as a fine substitute.
