NIGHT SKY Trailer Finds Beauty and Danger on Another World

Obviously, we’d love nothing more than to find a secret portal to another planet that no one else knows about. Especially if that world offered unsurpassed beauty and wonder. But you just know that would eventually lead to all sorts of problems. Fortunately for us, we won’t have to actually deal with them. Academy Award-winners Sissy Spacek and J.K. Simmons will, in Prime Video and Legendary Television‘s new sci-fi series Night Sky. Because as the show’s first trailer reveals, the greatest discovery in history couldn’t remain a secret forever.

Honestly, we’d totally be into this show if it entirely revolved around a nice old couple hanging out on a beautiful empty planet. But the actual story and its many mysteries seem way more interesting. Here’s the official synopsis:

Spanning space and time, Night Sky follows Irene (Spacek) and Franklin York (Simmons), a couple who, years ago, discovered a chamber buried in their backyard which inexplicably leads to a strange, deserted planet. They’ve carefully guarded their secret ever since, but when an enigmatic young man enters their lives, the Yorks’ quiet existence is quickly upended…and the mystifying chamber they thought they knew so well turns out to be much more than they could ever have imagined.

Prime Video and Legendary Television also revealed a new poster for the show. Considering this trailer, it’s slightly more ominous than we would have thought otherwise.

Let’s be honest, we’d be willing to face any issues that came with finding a portal to another world. But watching two incredible actors deal with them instead sounds pretty great too.

Night Sky also stars Chai Hansen (The Newsreader), Kiah McKirnan (Mare of Easttown), Julieta Zylberberg (The Invisible Look), Rocío Hernández (La caída) and Adam Bartley (Longmire). All eight episodes of season one debuts on Prime Video Friday, May 20.
