The new DC Universe series Stargirl unveiled its first official poster, along with its first full cast list and character breakdown. The series will debut on Monday, May 18 on the DC Universe streaming platform, followed by its broadcast debut on the CW the following night. The new poster gives us our first good look at the other members of the Justice Society of America (JSA), too. They will all figure into this series in a significant way.

The full cast includes Brec Bassinger in the title role of Courtney Whitmore/Stargirl, and Luke Wilson as her stepfather Pat Dugan. In his youth, Dugan was S.T.R.I.P.E, the sidekick to Sylvester Pemberton. Pemberton went by the name of Starman. And none other than Joel McHale will play him. Amy Smart will play Courtney’s mother Barbara Whitmore, who unknowingly married a former superhero. Her daughter will soon take up the family trade in their new hometown of Blue Valley, Nebraska.
The other JSA members confirmed for season one are Yvette Monreal as Yolanda Montez/Wildcat, Anjelika Washington as Dr. Beth Chapel/Dr. Mid-Nite, and Cameron Gellman as Rick Tyler/Hourman. These three heroes are the second generation JSA members from the pages of DC Comics, not their more famous Golden Age predecessors. They were originally introduced in the “Junior Justice Society” comic Infinity, Inc. in the ’80s. Hourman eventually graduated to full JSA status in recent years.

But a superhero is only as good as her villains. Playing the roles of the Injustice Society characters are Joy Osmanski as Ms. Brooks/Tigress, Christopher James Baker as Dr. Henry King/Brainwave, Neil Jackson as Jordan Mahkent/Icicle, Nelson Lee as Dr. Ito/Dragon King, and Neil Hopkins as the Sportsmaster.
DC Universe members will be the first to stream new episodes every Monday commercial-free in downloadable 4K Ultra HD. Additionally, DC Universe members will have access to several exclusive offerings, likes select extended episodes, behind-the-scenes footage, and exclusive Stargirl collectibles.

Geoff Johns co-created Stargirl with artist Lee Moder in 1999, when he was just starting out in his professional writing career. He based the character on his younger sister Courtney Johns, who died tragically on TWA Flight 800 in 1996. Although the initial Stargirl comic book series was short-lived, Johns went on to incorporate the character in the JSA revival comics. There, she became a mainstay in the DC Universe going forward. Now, she will headline her own live-action series, which Johns is an executive producer on.
DC’S Stargirl will premiere on Monday, May 18, in advance of The CW broadcast on Tuesday, May 19.
