“Star Wars, nothing but Star Wars…”
We’re in a golden age, Star Wars fans. There are so many new stories being told across various mediums that it’s hard to keep up with releases. What a problem to have, right? Disney-Lucasfilm Press is adding to your growing “Star Wars To Consume” list (I’m making a page for this in my bullet journal) with a slew of new all-ages titles featuring stories throughout the Star Wars timeline. StarWars.com shared details on the releases, and guys, this is so wizard. How much of the timeline are we talking about? These books take place just before Star Wars Rebels, during The Force Awakens era, alongside Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and back to the prequel era. So many options, and I’m happy they’re focusing somewhere besides the original trilogy. Let’s take a look at what’s coming up:
The Rogue One junior novel by Matt Forbeck is suited for fans eight and up and “goes a little deeper than standard adaptations with new insights in the characters and worlds of Rogue One.” It’s out December 16.
Next up, Join the Resistance by Ben Acker and Ben Blacker of Nerdist’s Thrilling Adventure Hour. Neat, huh? Double neat: Annie Wu is doing the art on this story set during The Force Awakens era series that’s described as “Star Wars meets The Goonies.” This one will be available on March 7, 2017.
In addition to the above releases, you’ll find more in the gallery below. There’s the Star Wars: Adventures in Wild Space trilogy about new characters trying to rescue their parents from Imperials (this is the one happening right before Star Wars Rebels) and the Star Wars: The Prequel Trilogy – A Graphic Novel, an illustrated adaptation of the three prequel films. See the captions for writer and artist information.
Which of these all-ages titles grabs your attention? And will you purchasing them for a youngling or for yourself? Tell me in the comments.
