For decades, Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang have created iconic TV specials. One for almost every major fall and winter holiday. From It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown to A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving and A Charlie Brown Christmas, they covered almost all of the bases. Except for one – New Year’s Eve.
Now, at long last, Apple has set a new original Peanuts holiday special. This one is centered on December 31, called For Auld Lang Syne. It is set to debut globally on December 10 on Apple TV+. The new special is from a story by Alex Galatis and Scott Montgomery, made together with Wildbrain Studios.
Peanuts Worldwide
In this newest special, which continues a long tradition, the Peanuts gang experience a disappointing Christmas because Grandma can’t come by to visit. So Lucy resolves to throw herself the best New Year’s Eve party of all time. All of this while Charlie Brown struggles to accomplish just one of his resolutions before the clock strikes twelve. This is very relatable, we must say. We hope this New Year’s Eve party comes with all the traditional goofy Peanuts kids dances we’ve all come to love. This new special hopefully gives us at least one new Snoopy dance before the stroke of midnight too.
And if you want to revisit the classic Peanuts holiday specials, Apple has now made it easier than ever. The festive tradition of gathering to watch the classic adventures of Charlie Brown, Peppermint Patty, Lucy, and the rest of the gang continues this holiday season. Apple and PBS are again teaming up to offer multiple ways to view ad-free airings of It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, and A Charlie Brown Christmas. Fans can also watch Who Are You, Charlie Brown? a documentary deep dive into the origins of Charles M. Schulz’s beloved creations.
