When it comes to Garfield “tables and drops” usually means he kicked Odie to the floor. But today those terms means something very different when it comes to the iconic lasagna-loving cat. Garfield is coming to tabletops with his very own Secret Lair drop from Magic: The Gathering.

Wizards of the Coast has announced its Cats Are the Best Superdrop will include three special Secret Lair x Garfield collections. These limited sets show “many sides of Garfield—whether he’s motivating you to defeat your opponents, hunting for his prey atop a saber-toothed tiger, or helping you play Magic: The Gathering exactly as it was intended.” If the exact way to play Magic:The Gathering involves napping and being mean to a pleasant dog….nailed it.
As for what that actually means, these are the three collections of Magic: The Gathering x Garfield Secret Lair drops—which all come with five unique cards—and their official descriptions:
- Secret Lair x Garfield: Motivationally Challenged – “Pulls from some of the character’s most memorable motivational posters and pairs them with perfectly fitting Magic cards.”
- Secret Lair x Garfield: Our Only Thought Is to Entertain You – “Brings the entertainer beneath the naps, lasagna, and everyday contempt to the forefront.
- Secret Lair x Garfield: As Intended – “Takes cards from the first Magic: The Gathering set and asks a simple question: what if Garfield himself art directed Magic in its early days?”
“When Secret Lair realized that cats would get a full Superdrop sales event, we were thrilled to have the opportunity to include Garfield,” said Secret Lair Senior Director Lindsey Bartell, in a statement. “Jim Davis’s Garfield comic strips inspired a whole generation of artists and creatives in a way that is truly timeless. We were so thrilled and proud to be able to work with PAWS INC. to bring this to life in a way that feels truly authentic to both Magic and Garfield.”
All three Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair x Garfield drops will release as part of the Cats are the Best Superdrop at 9 a.m. PT on June 15. Each will come in both Foil ($39.99) and Non-Foil ($29.99) “while supplies last.” And anyone who spends $199 in a single transaction will get a special, limited-edition Foil Food Token promo card. (Also, while supplies last.)
