Milla Jovovich Goes to War in MONSTER HUNTER Trailer

Resident Evil‘s Milla Jovovich knows a little something about fighting terrifying monsters from a popular video game franchise. But her next big screen battle will offer a much larger challenge. She stars as Captain Artemis in Sony’s adaptation of the hit game series Monster Hunter. And based on the action-adventure fantasy’s new trailer she’ll need a lot more than some oversized guns to bring them down.

“Behind our world, there is another: a world of dangerous and powerful monsters that rule their domain with deadly ferocity. When an unexpected sandstorm transports Captain Artemis and her unit to a new world, the soldiers are shocked to discover that this hostile and unknown environment is home to enormous and terrifying monsters immune to their firepower. In their desperate battle for survival, the unit encounters the mysterious Hunter, whose unique skills allow him to stay one step ahead of the powerful creatures. As Artemis and Hunter slowly build trust, she discovers that he is part of a team led by the Admiral. Facing a danger so great it could threaten to destroy their world, the brave warriors combine their unique abilities to band together for the ultimate showdown.”

Monster Hunter also marks a reunion between Jovovich and writer/director Paul W.S. Anderson. He was behind the camera for the Resident Evil movies. He also directed the original Mortal Kombat adaptation. Bringing a video game to the theaters is his own personal wheelhouse.

The film also stars Tony Jaa, Tip ‘T.I.’ Harris, Meagan Good, Diego Boneta, Josh Helman, Jin Au-Yeung, and Ron Perlman as the Admiral. As well as some enormous creatures.

The movie arrives in theaters—hopefully—in time for the New Year, December 30. So there’s still plenty of time to play your old Monster Hunter copies to get ready. Just try to avoid being transported to any other worlds by accident in the meantime. Well, unless Milla Jovovich goes with you. She’ll know what to do.
