METALOCALYPSE Celebrates 20 Years at San Diego Comic-Con

The line to Hall H isn’t the only brutal aspect of San Diego Comic-Con. On Friday, July 23, Dethklok descends on Comic-Con for a must-see panel celebrating the 20th anniversary of Metalocalypse. Comic-Con attendees can geek out about two decades of Nathan Explosion, Skwisgaar Skwigelf, Pickles, William Murderface and Toki Wartooth with some of the amazingly talented people who made the show possible.

The panel takes place in Ballroom 5AB at 7:30PM on Friday, July 23. Moderated by Nerdist‘s Dan Casey (hey, that’s me!), the panel will feature series co-creator Brendon Small, composer Gene Hoglan, writer Brian Posehn, writer Andrew Kevin Walker, and Titmouse co-founder and producer Chris Prynoski.

The cult classic Adult Swim animated series premiered on August 6, 2006, and aired for four seasons. It follows world-famous melodic death metal band Dethklok and the fanatical legions of fans that would do anything for them.

The franchise went on to spawn a movie, a rock opera, video games, comics, and a mega-popular live tour that saw Dethklok transcend animation to bring blast beats and brutal riffs to fans all over the world in glorious live-action.

After four seasons on Adult Swim, the series wrapped up the awesomely ultraviolent saga of Dethklok in the 2023 film Metalocalypse: Army of the Doomstar in which Dethklok was tasked with writing a “Song of Salvation” to save the Earth from impending doom.

But let me ask you something: have you ever heard the “Song of Salvation” with Brendon Small and tons of other Metalocalypse fans? If not, you’re in luck! Following the panel, there will be a special film screening of Metalocalypse: Army of the Doomstar with Brendon Small at 10:30PM in the Marriott Grand Ballroom 5 in the Marriott Marquis.

And if you can’t make either of these awesome events, we’ve only got one word for you: “Brutal.”
