Everyone’s been going nuts on social media over all of these cakes that look like real-life inanimate objects. But we’ve discovered some optical illusion art that tops even that. Thanks to the folks at Bored Panda, we’ve learned about the latest work from artist Mimi Choi, whose makeup illusions are quite a sight to behold. We’ve featured her artwork here before, but she’s pushed the boundaries of her art form with her latest offerings.
A former preschool teacher, Choi quit her job a few years ago to pursue her love of make-up art. Since then, she’s made amazing creations, many of which you can see on her Instagram. But with her latest works of art, she’s created some incredible optical illusion makeup using her own arms, legs, and hands!
So why did Choi switch up her makeup from her face to the rest of her body? “I started painting on my limbs because certain concepts that I came up with worked better with the shape of my arms, legs, and hands” she told us. “Also, it turns out that it’s less straining on my eyes to use my limbs as my canvas because painting on my face requires me to sit very close to my mirror to achieve a high level of detail. Another reason that I change things up is to give my face a break and to allow my skin to breathe from time to time.”
Down below are several of our favorites:
Honestly, this is the only cake-themed optical illusion we really need right now.

There’s going bananas, and then there’s this. And by the way, these are Dole and not Chiquita. If you have a preference.

Not sure that Polysporin and Band-Aid are going to be enough in this case. To quote Monty Python and the Holy Grail, “it’s just a flesh wound!”
