LORD OF THE RINGS Stars Answer Web’s Autocomplete Questions

Dominic Monaghan and Billy Boyd recently launched their own podcast. On The Friendship Onion, they recount their experiences working on Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy as hobbits Merry and Pippin. We understand if you’re hesitant to add yet another audio show to your already overcrowded listening schedule. So are we. But with these two, you might want to reconsider. Because the pair recently sat down for Wired‘s online series where celebrities answer the web’s most searched questions. And it’s twelve minutes of pure charming goodness. In a video with only one obvious issue: it ended instead of going on for another 12 hours.

The worldwide web has questions. As well as weird incomplete statements that still require answers. And the two Shire alums had wonderful responses for all of them. That was true whether it was a personal inquiry, like why Dominic Monaghan now has a much deeper voice than he used to. Or how to pronounce Billy Boyd’s name. (Uh… How else would you say it?) Or if people searched specific questions about the famous fantasy franchise they starred in.

With equal parts humor and insight, Dominic Monaghan and Billy Boyd provided what turned out to be an amazing history lesson on both The Lord of the Rings movies and their characters’ stories. These two know a lot more about Merry and Pippin than most actors ever know about the characters they play. Their knowledge goes well beyond what just happened in the films. This delightful duo can get deep into the lore of J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth with anyone.

We know podcasts are an aural medium. But this video is the best promo we’ve ever seen for one.  Now we want to listen to Dominic Monaghan and Billy Boyd talk about anything and everything.
