When LEGO announced it was finally going to explore the final frontier, our expectations couldn’t have been any higher. So far, this long-awaited/long-needed partnership between icons is more than living up to them. The company’s first Star Trek set, a giant Next Generation Enterprise, is absolutely perfect. And the same is true of the collection’s second release. This time LEGO is going inside the ship that started it all, with a recreation of the original series’ bridge and transporter room.
LEGO’s newly announced Star Trek: U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 Bridge will let you boldly build one of the most iconic sets in television history. The 1,701-piece collectible is a recreation of the bridge and transporter room from the original ’60s series. It features computer stations, a viewscreen showing a Klingon warrior, and a transporter platform for sending crew on missions.
It’s also adaptable. You can move the modular sections to fit your own home display. And you can really feel like you’re inside the Enterprise thanks to its interactive elements. The captain’s chair can rock to “simulate ship turbulence and battle sequences.” You can also turn the transporter room’s dial to move the crew between pads. And the set includes a lever for opening the turbo lift doors.
It also comes with eight mini-figs: Captain Kirk, Spock, Uhura, Sulu, Dr. Leonard “Bones” McCoy, Chekov, Christine Chapel, and Scotty. The set also has a ton of great extras. There are four tribbles, two Starfleet communicators (which boast an a totally new LEGO element), four phasers, Spock’s harp, two Vulcan Lirpas, and a Trident Scanner.
Like we said, this collection is more than living up to our wildest expectations. The only downside is that while we can pre-order it right now ($199.99), we cant build LEGO’s Star Trek: U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-170 Bridge until this fall. It arrives on September 1 as part of the OG show’s 60th anniversary.
Just like this LEGO-Star Trek union, it’ll be worth the wait.
