It’s one thing to explore one of the Wonders of the World—both new and classic—without leaving your house. It’s another to build one. LEGO’s newest build is doing just that. This summer, the company is releasing a Great Pyramid of Giza set as part of LEGO’s Architecture collection. And the build itself looks pretty sweet.
Here’s how LEGO describes the set.
Build a beautifully detailed cross-section model of the Great Pyramid, revealing its main tunnels and chambers and the system that may have been used to move huge stones during its construction. Visualize how this area by the river Nile is thought to have looked in ancient times, with 2 small pyramids, 2 mortuary temples, Sphinx statues, an obelisk and more.
The Great Pyramid of Giza LEGO build arrives on August 1, 2022. (We first saw the build at Design TAXI.) The 1476-piece build costs $129.99, which a pretty good deal for one of the Seven Wonders. And the stunning build isn’t too big for the shelf. It measures 8 inches high, 13.5 inches wide, and 12.5 inches deep. Perfect to keep on display, especially with the sleek outer shell to complete the build. Luckily, builders can remove the shell to show off the inner workings of the pyramid. the whole thing would look perfect right next to the LEGO Globe build.
The pyramid is just the latest intricate builds in the Architecture collection. Fans of the collection can build the Taj Mahal and Statue of Liberty, or even build their own Pennsylvania Avenue and have their very own White House set. Maybe the pyramid will lead to other builds for the rest of the classic Seven Wonders. Those, unfortunately, haven’t stood the test of time like the Great Pyramid of Giza. But architecture and history loving LEGO builders among us would love to tackle the Lighthouse of Alexandria.
LEGO’s Great Pyramid of Giza set isn’t available for pre-order just yet. But we’ll be keeping our eyes out for it.
