This LEGO Car Factory Assembles Cars On Another Level

The sky’s the limit when it comes to LEGO. Pair that with smart, innovative people, and you have a nearly unstoppable force. One guy takes that concept to the next level by blending LEGO with tech. How, you might ask? He’s recreated a working LEGO car factory that assembles LEGO cars with ease. Check out this incredibly cool project.

The mechanism works through a three-axis positioning system that carries the arm side-to-side, front-to-back, up-and-down, and so forth. It’s essentially a miniature pick-and-place machine, similar to machines used to assemble things in factories. In Layman’s terms, the little green arm picks up pieces on the platform, moves them around, and boom, you have a car. The video describes the process a lot more eloquently, of course, but I’ll leave the in-depth explanation to the original poster. Feel free to skim through the video linked above if you’re dying to see it step-by-step.

The design can piece together multiple LEGO cars, one after another, with ease. It’s a super cool design. According to the creator, the design can’t deconstruct what it builds, only construct. Maybe the next step will expand the mechanics to make an infinite car factory loop.

The brain behind the wickedly cool invention is YouTube creator Banana Gear Studios. His channel is full of countless other cool LEGO-tech creations, including a working LEGO stopwatch that functions as precisely as an iPhone. Pretty neat. Each video gives a comprehensive rundown of exactly how he did it, technical jargon and all.

All in all, we are giving props to Banana Gear Studios for this cool build. How many people can say they’ve recreated a working pick-and-place machine at home? And with LEGO, no less? It’s truly something to show off. Curious to see what other amazing recreations he comes up with next.
