LEE CRONIN’S THE MUMMY Delivers FULL Horror in First Trailer

We love The Mummy. But, these days, when most of us think of The Mummy movies, we picture an action-adventure, bisexual-awakening, romp with some seriously scary scarabs, which, yes, do give us the heebeejeebies. We might even think of the Universal Orlando ride and Brendan Fraser just trying to get his cup of coffee. But Lee Cronin’s The Mummy is gearing up to bring this story back to its horror roots in full. In the first teaser trailer for Lee Cronin’s The Mummy, we cut right to the horror chase and see a sneak peek complete with creepy chanting, head bashing, skin peeling, insects crawling out of bodies, and blood. “What happened to Katie?” Asks the teaser trailer for Lee Cronin’s The Mummy… Well, nothing good.

It’s about time mummies got scary again. After all, little says horror like dead bodies wrapped snug in layers upon layers of bandages, their bodies hollowed out. Alongisde its trailer, the synopsis for Lee Cronin’s The Mummy reveals a little bit more about what we can expect from the story. It notes:

Hot off the record-setting resurrection of EVIL DEAD RISE, writer/director Lee Cronin turns to one of the most iconic horror stories of all time with an audacious and twisted retelling: LEE CRONIN’S THE MUMMY.

The young daughter of a journalist disappears into the desert without a trace—eight years later, the broken family is shocked when she is returned to them, as what should be a joyful reunion turns into a living nightmare.

Uh-oh, we’re guessing dear old Katie was possessed by the spirit of an ancient Egyptian foe, and that’s not going to turn out well for anyone. Lee Cronin’s The Mummy stars Jack Reynor, Laia Costa, May Calamawy, Natalie Grace, and Veronica Falcón. The film is written and directed by Cronin, and produced by James Wan, Jason Blum, and John Keville.

We don’t get to see too much of the cast in action in this short teaser trailer for Lee Cronin’s The Mummy. But it’s enough to receive the intense horror vibes. The last shot is especially chilling and will stay with us for the rest of the day. And that chanting, we just can’t get enough of it. It’s somehow terrifying and hypnotic; that’s a delicious combination. Of course, we know when we finally see the cast’s performances in future trailers for Lee Cronin’s The Mummy, they are going to blow us away.
