LADY AND THE TRAMP’s Disney+ Trailer is Super Adorable

With the massive success of Lion King, Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast, it seems every classic animated Disney film is getting the live-action treatment. And now another beloved classic from Walt’s days in charge of the studio is coming alive in a new way, with Lady and the Tramp. But unlike previous adaptations, this one is going to be made directly for the Disney+ streaming service. Also differentiating itself from the likes of Lion King, the animals are actual animals, and not CGI. (Although there’s some CGI assistance, it seems).

You can check out the new trailer below:

Well, this already looks super adorable, and way better than all those recent lost/reincarnated dog movies combined. The actress voicing Lady is none other than Tessa Thompson, and the Tramp is going to be played by Justin Theroux. Also part of the cast are Kiersey Clemons, Yvette Nicole Brown, Sam Elliott, Benedict Wong, and Janelle Monáe. Judging from the costumes in the trailer, the movie appears to be keeping its early 20th century time frame, despite rumors that it would be moved to the modern day.

In addition to the new trailer, the first poster from the movie was released as well.

This does seem to be a very faithful adaptation of the 1955 classic, with the story synopsis describing a story about “an upper-middle-class American cocker spaniel named Lady who meets a street-smart, downtown stray mongrel called the Tramp, with the two embarking on many romantic adventures including that iconic spaghetti smooch scene.” We think the spaghetti scene might be where the most CGI assistance is going to come in. Because that just sounds like a nightmare to film with actual real live pooches.

Lady and the Tramp will be released exclusively on Disney+ on November 12, 2019.
