A good pickle can make all the difference on a chicken sandwich, so it’s no surprise that KFC is currently serving up a special pickle menu. And the pickle puffer jacket they’re giving away to celebrate the limited-time event makes for a perfect pair. It’s a big puffy coat full of pickle slices and pickle juice. And as weird as that sounds it’s even more bizarre than you can imagine, because you can also drink straight from the pickle jacket.
KFC stores in the United Kingdom are currently hosting Pickle Mania. The special menu includes the new Pickle Burger (“an original recipe fillet spiked with our unique pickle seasoning” that’s “loaded with tangy sliced gherkins, creamy pickle ranch, and crispy pickle cucumber pieces, all nestled in a glazed sesame bun”). You can enjoy that with Pickle Loaded fries, seasoned fried pickle slices called Frickles, and a Pickle Pepsi Max. Yet, somehow, pickle soda isn’t the weirdest part of this menu.
That honor goes to the Pickle Puffer the fast food chain is giving away on social media. It’s a puffer coat (we first heard about at Foodbeast). The translucent jacket features bubbles on the front and sleeves, and each is filled with pickle slices and pickle juice you can drink or squirt via a built-in hose.
Is this jacket a health violation? Uh… probably not? We don’t really know how food-jacket laws work in the UK. (In fairness, we don’t know how they work in the US, either.) Is this jacket a fashion violation? Obviously. That is true on both sides of the Atlantic. Also the Pacific, Indian Ocean, Arc….you get the idea.
