Kevin Leary works out of Great Lakes Tattoo in Chicago, and he’s responsible for applying about a zillion (slight exaggeration) pop culture themed tattoos on his clients. He pulls inspiration from a variety of stories you know and puts a fresh and colorful spin on the familiar characters or symbols with every tattoo he inks. For example, I give you sloth Chewbacca. No, I’m not kidding.
And for another creative design, how about this Twin Peaks piece? It includes so many references from the show:
Visit the gallery below to view more of Kevin’s work, including the Terminator, the Infinity Gauntlet, and more. If you want to view his entire portfolio and keep up with new ink, follow him on Instagram. And if you happen to be in Chicago March 18-19, go to Great Lakes Tattoo’s Walk Up Classic and get some art by Kevin applied to your skin.
If you have nerdy ink on your skin or you’re a tattoo artist that applies pop culture, STEM, music, or other nerd-inspired ink (the spectrum is broad, folks) on a regular basis, then please hit me up because I’d like to highlight you in a future Inked Wednesday gallery. You can get in touch with me via email at [email protected] Send me photos of the tattoos you’d like me to feature (the higher resolution, the better) and don’t forget to let me know the name of your tattoo artist if you have it, as well the name of the shop he or she works out of. If you are the tattoo artist, give me links to your portfolios and/or Instagram accounts so I can share them with our readers.
