Based on the enormous box office cash that it took in, to the tune of $85 million, most of you reading this have probably seen Logan, actor Hugh Jackman's swan song to the character that made him a household name (and if you haven't, you should totally get on that). Not only is it a fitting end to his unprecedented 17-year run as Wolverine in the X-Men film series, in which he made nine appearances as the character, but Logan is really just a great film, period. Possibly one of the best ever in the superhero genre.
Sure, the X-Men film series has had its ups and down over the years, with X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men: Origins: Wolverine being low points, but the one thing that was always perfect about them was Jackman's portrayal of Wolverine. One day, someone will replace him in the role, but that's going to be quite a white tank top to fill. I don't envy them.
As a thank you to the fans who have supported him over this past decade and half, Jackman decided to display his gratitude to Wolverine-lovers with a video he released via Instagram. In the video, Jackman thanks his fans for “17 awesome years” and then shows a brief montage of Logan fan art. All of this is set to the tune of Johnny Cash’s cover of Nine Inch Nail's “Hurt,” the same song used for that first, great Logan trailer. You can watch the video down below:
Logan is in theaters now, and stars Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart as Professor X, and Dafne Keen as X- 23.
