We’re very near the biggest showdown in movie history. Literally. Because, largeness. It’ll be a battle of gods and kings when Godzilla vs. Kong smashes its way to theaters and on HBO Max on March 31. And while we’ve already had some theories about what exactly will happen when these two titans meet, there’s bound to be so much more we haven’t even thought of yet. One of which was definitely what other famous monsters might show their fearsome face in the movie. Now we know for sure. A new line of toys from Playmates has revealed Godzilla’s robotic doppelganger Mechagodzilla will play a part.
Playmates
We’ve already told you last year about some of the Godzilla and Kong figures on offer from Playmates. Now we get our first look at two different versions of the metallic version of Godzilla. The first is a six-inch iteration of the robotic Apex predator with “unstoppable powers of laser destruction.” We learn from the description that “Mechagodzilla was created in secret to destroy Godzilla and end the reign of monsters.”
The six-inch version also features a battle damage feature. Remove plates to reveal the epic impact of fights against other such giant monsters. Also in the line are Godzilla and Kong figures with their own battle damage elements to recreate fights from the movie, or stage brand new ones from your imagination.
Playmates
For a little more heft, Playmates also has a behemoth 11-inch version with extra detail. You can note the red coloring on the scales and in between the ribs. It stands in stark contrast to the blue hues of original Godzilla. This toy, like all in the Playmates line, was designed and sculpted based on the character’s appearance in Godzilla vs. Kong.
Playmates
There are, of course, Godzilla and Kong figures in both sizes to go along with Mechagodzilla. For those looking for the most massive, there is also a 13″ option for both Kong and Godzilla that have electronic lights and sounds which will add even more ferocity to your battles.

Mechagodzilla first made his big screen appearance in Toho’s appropriately titled 1974 feature Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla. Since then, he’s appeared in five more live-action outings and two anime features. Truly, Godzilla, Kong, and Mechagodzilla will make for one of the most monster-packed films of all time.
These Playmates figures will be available exclusively at Walmart and online. For more toys from Godzilla vs. Kong, head to godzillavskongtoys.com.
