Giancarlo Esposito Says We Won’t Predict His MCU Role and He’ll Star on an MCU Series

Giancarlo Esposito is finally joining the MCU. There’s been much discussion surrounding a possible Marvel casting for Esposito, with some early buzz surrounding him playing the MCU’s Professor X. However, it seems like Giancarlo Esposito will not play the X-Men leader. He has instead joined the MCU as a mystery character the actor teases will be “new and fresh.”

Who could that unknown figure be? The actor says we won’t be able to guess, even though he’ll star on on an MCU show soon.

The audio of this video, which we first saw on GameSpot, cuts off the start. But it was the first time Esposito seemed to confirm he’d signed on for an MCU film, sharing something like, “Being in a Marvel movie, that will come true.”

Esposito then went on to say, “I cannot promise you it’ll be Professor X, because here’s what I think. I think that there’s something about being original. We’ve seen different versions of Professor X. Wouldn’t you like to see me play a character in a Marvel movie who is original, and new, and fresh? So, mark my words: This will happen sooner than you think.”

Which MCU character will Giancarlo Esposito play and when will we see him? Could he join Thunderbolts, Captain America: Brave New World, or The Fantastic Four? Or did Marvel cast Esposito in a project it hasn’t announced yet? It’s too soon to tell, and it might be impossible to even speculate.

At Phoenix Fan Fusion, Esposito confirmed his MCU casting with a tantalizing comment about his secret part and just how big it will ultimately be. “The MCU has knocked on my door and it’s a role you won’t predict,” he said. “It will be teased and there will be a series afterwards.”

A movie debut followed by a Disney+ show? The only thing better than Giancarlo Esposito playing Professor X might be him playing someone important we won’t see coming.
