FROZEN 2 Trailer Looks Surprisingly Intense

For parents who have had to deal with their kids rewatching the movie over and over (and over and over) again every day for years, it might feel like Frozen was just released. Somehow it’s actually been over five years since the smash hit musical came to theaters in November of 2013.

But when it comes to Disney’s tale about a queen with magical ice powers, the Mouse House isn’t ready for you to let it go just yet. This fall Frozen 2 will come to theaters, and based on its first trailer it’s going to be an epic return.

This first, genuinely grand and gorgeous teaser is full of sweeping shots, intense moments, and a beautiful score (though The Avengers music works too). What it doesn’t have is any dialogue or even any real hint at what the story is about. Our biggest clue comes at the start, where Queen Elsa appears to be trapped Castaway-style on an island being inundated with massive waves even she can’t seem to traverse with her powers. (Stupid salt water and it’s high freezing point!) But that’s not the only issue Arendelle’s royal family and friends are facing, as a major storm seems to be brewing on a dangerous journey across the wilderness. Also, Anna and Elsa’s parents might be alive.

Normally Frozen makes us want to sing, or laugh, or cry, but this trailer has us ready to run through a wall, and we don’t even know what the problem is. We just want to grab a sword like Anna and start swinging.

Hopefully for parents who are destined to watch this a million times, that won’t be what their kids will do.

Directed by Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck, and starring Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, Jonathan Groff, and Josh Gad, with music from Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, Frozen 2 comes to theaters on November 22, 2019.
